Liu Kuo Sung
Sunrise, 1973
39 x 27 inches
ink and colour on handmade paper scroll
("Mounted" to matting board (glued to matting board))
Laky Gallery Provenance
(owners father did advertising work for Laky and I also have some prints that he created for him)
Notes: I requested that consignor contact Christies, whom she had already been in touch with and ask if it was common for Kuo Sung works to be adhered to board. Christies said that it must have been the dealer who did this and it would not affect value.
My auction estimate was $50,000 to $70,000 but I think it is not unreasonable to ask $125,000. My request is to make half the commission that is charged to the consignor and I believe the painting should sell for no less than $70,000. If we work together we will find many more of these.
